In case you are wondering, David and Jonathan are not the biblical characters – that is Jonathan, son of King Saul and his bosom friend, David (the shepherd boy). Although these two are close friends too, or how else could they work together smoothly?
Yes, it is indeed our very own President Goodluck, Ebele, Jonathan and yours truly, Senate President David Mark. The two of them are expected to join the likes of the General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Pastor E. A. and Bishop David Oyedepo of Living Faith in Ibadan on September 22 in order to pray for peace in the country.
A prayer conference has become necessary as a result of the security situation of the country. According to the coordinator of Nigeria National Fasting and Prayer Day, Prophet Okoduwa Atorkpa, the theme of this year's conference is "God Save Nigeria". The cleric made this known while addressing newsmen in Benin, Edo State, on Monday. For him, this year's event was coming at a time the country was confronted with difficult challenges threatening its unity and peaceful coexistence.
Prophet Atorkpa believes that "the only way to resolve all problems facing the nation was to pray to God to save Nigeria." he continues: "All we are saying today is that if there is anything the country has neglected, it is prayers. I want to make it clear that no individual or group of persons can save Nigeria except God… We are at a position where we require the presence of God because the battle in Nigeria today is spiritual."
