It's no longer news that Governor Fashola politely turned down a chieftaincy title from the Oniru of Iru Land, Oba Abiodun Idowu Oniru. This took place at the oba's 75th birthday and 18th year coronation anniversary on Saturday Sept 8th. BRF (as Fashola's fondly called) said he couldn't accept any titles so as to focus on being a governor. Here's what he said; "Kabiyesi and his chiefs can continue to lead us, let them deal with all those traditional and chieftancy issues. At the appropriate time, we will come and join them, but for now, leave us in our suits, booths, overalls and helmets, because this agbada is not good for clearing refuse and tarring the roads."
Don't ask me why, but I just love BRF!
