This is my first interview with the CEO of any upcoming organisation at all and I was excited to do it! I met Nnamdi last year whilst preparing for my Maiden show; Youth Rave (I’m sure y’all would remember and others would wonder why we’re just doing the interview), well, let’s just say this is the right time. From working with Nnamdi, I noticed the passion he had for his job, his strict adherence to time and the way he co-ordinated his artistes! It’s no wonder why IRGM is still standing. IRGM turned one today and trust JK to bring you an exclusive interview with Nnamdi, it’s CEO. In just a few words, he described the journey so far, the challenges and the blessings! Enjoy!
JK. In one sentence who is Nnamdi?
Nnamdi- Nnamdi is this ambitious 18 year old boy that loves music and family (smiles)
JK. Educational background
Nnamdi- I’ve studied in some many schools, because my family kept moving, but I finished my secondary school in Cayley college and I’m presently in my 2nd year in University of Nigeria.
JK. What was growing up like for you?
Nnamdi- Growing was fun, my mom was with the air force so I got to travel to many countries.
JK. Why did you decide to start IRGM? And what does it entail?
Nnamdi- I heard songs from really cool artistes in my school, and it was depressing that music with such quality couldn’t go far, so I just thought to myself how can I get their music out there and after a while the idea of IRGM came about. IRGM is an artiste promotion/Management organisation that is also going into the event sector by july and yeah we run a music blog too www.irepgoodmusic.blogspot.com
JK. Why the name; IRGM?
Nnamdi- IRGM meaning I REPRESENT GOOD MUSIC, its self explanatory, it is what we stand for, it is what we represent.
JK. What we’re the responses from your friends and acquintances like on the inception of IRGM?
Nnamdi- some of my friends see me as a very unserious person, so they thought the idea will fade in weeks, but most of my friends were supportive and *in Peejays voice* SEE ME NOW!!
JK. People say IRGM is a clone of the already big names in the industry. What does IRGM do that makes it different from the rest?
Nnamdi- (laughing) Star wars Clone wars…well I guess its our really strict way of working, we only deal with the best in music and with God on our side, we always dare to be different.
JK. What is the best thing to date that has happened to you and IRGM, professional wise?
Nnamdi- the best thing is yet to come, but so far I guess it’s our work force, the inclusion of some certain people in the team.
JK. What is the worst experience you’ve had in the course of this one year with IRGM?
Nnamdi- The worst. Experience hmmm, I doubt if we’ve had really bad experiences like that, but I think the worst was (scratching head) omo, I no know oh!
JK. IRGM turns 1 today, how do you feel?
Nnamdi- *in 2face voice* I dey feel like obasanjooo e!! But mehn all honor and all glory be unto God!
JK. What is the future looking like for IRGM? In the next 5 yrs, where do you hope for it to be?
Nnamdi- 5yrs dey far oh! But in 5yrs IREPGOODMUSIC would be unstoppable and that’s word to my opposition.
JK. What your advice to people that want to start off outfits like IRGM?
Nnamdi- Omo it is not easy, especially if you in school, its not easy at all, you’ll have late nights, you might not even sleep well in a whole week, but just stay strong and keep your head up, and the moon would be where you fall.
JK. What do you have to say to those that said IRGM won’t last?
Nnamdi- Nekwaaaaaaa!! (See)
JK. Finally, if you we’re to come back to earth as a popular igbo, nollywood actor, who would it be and why?
Nnamdi- Jim Iyke mehn!! that guy dey kiss anybody for film.
JK. Any shoutouts?
Nnamdi- shoutouts to my family, my best friend Noble Davies, Peejay, Eclipse, Senei Uche, Tosyn beautiful Bucknor ;), Yomi Black, the entire Milounge crew, Ovie for all the advice he has given and most especially MY TEAM!!!
