I was on the move yesterday when I immediately started seeing updates about the crash! I was distraught not just by the crash but by the fact that people just stood there watching others burn. Some were even taking pictures. The Dana Arlines plane crashed at the Iju/Ishaga area of Lagos. The aircraft had 152 passengers on board coming from Abuja. NCAA confirmed that there were no survivors. The irresponsible part is that the plane that crashed was the same plane that had landing gear problems in Uyo some few weeks back. The airline apparently didn't do anything about it. Former broadcaster and NNPC General Manager, Corporate Affairs, Dr Levi Ajuonuma, 5 members of Staff of Nigerian University Commissions (NUC) and Ehime Aikhomu, son of former Vice President, Late Admiral Augustus Aikhomu, were on board.

The stupid thing's that AIT, NTA, Silverbird and the rest continued with their usual programming. Nobody covered the on-site happenings except CNN! CNN for pete's sake! I really don't know what is up with Nigeria! There we're no emergency units personnel on ground that would have saved some lives and the onlookers just watched and took pictures as human beings, (human beings o), burnt! It is well with our souls.

Our good president, GEJ, has however declared three days of mourning for those who lost their lives. He also requested that the Nigerian flag be flown at half mast for the three days.
